HSC Ceramics HPV Education Program
Supporting Australian Schools in Human Powered Vehicle Innovation
Our Story
Since 2013, HSC Ceramic has proudly supported Australian school Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) teams. What began with Victorian schools reaching out for faster and more efficient bearings and then became a long-term commitment to education and innovation till today.

In HPV design, every fraction of energy saved translates directly into performance gains. Recognizing this, we began providing educational discounts and full product sponsorships to support school teams in vehicle development and competition performance.
Our commitment to young innovators extends beyond HPV. In 2017, we proudly supported Australian Billy Cart Champion Mitchell, who at just five years old, demonstrated extraordinary passion and determination. Supporting young talents like Mitchell reflects our belief that engineering curiosity begins early and continues to grow over the years.
Global Impact in Sustainable Engineering
Our educational and technical support extends beyond Australia. HSC Ceramic partnered with Ecofet Brazil, supporting the development of ultra-efficient prototype vehicles powered by ethanol fuel.
This collaboration contributed to championship victories at the Shell Eco‑Marathon Brazil in 2018 and 2019. The partnership continues today, reflecting our shared commitment to sustainable mobility and engineering excellence.

Advancing Human Powered Speed Records
HSC Ceramic is also a proud partner of the Monash University, Monash Human Power (MHP) team.
Through this collaboration:
- In 2018, development work contributed to achieving a human-powered speed of 87.4 km/h
- On 15 September 2023, the MHP team set a new Australian men’s single-track bicycle record of 116.39 km/h
- The team now holds both the fastest and second-fastest Australian human-powered bicycle speed records

These achievements demonstrate what is possible when advanced engineering meets determination and innovation.
Inspiring the Next Generation
To further support science, engineering, and sustainable transport innovation, HSC Ceramic has launched the HPV Education Program for Australian Schools.
The program is designed to empower students to:
- Design and build high-efficiency human powered vehicles
- Apply real-world engineering principles
- Compete in HPV competitions
- Explore sustainable mobility solutions
Our goal is simple: inspire students to engage with engineering through hands-on innovation while promoting a more sustainable future.
